Early Years Educator - Toddlers Room

Details

Accountable to: Room Leader

Qualification: Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care or equivalent

Job purpose:
Safeguarding children ensuring excellent high-quality childcare and planned activities appropriate to the age and development of the children. Implement the day routine.

Duties:
1. To assist nursery team in providing a friendly, caring and relaxing environment in order to encourage and develop children in our care.
2. To work within and actively contribute ideas to the whole Nursery team.
3. To remain proactive and professional at all times.
4. Assist children with their daily routines.
5. To ensure all daily routines are adhered to and records kept up to date including observation, planning sleep and nappy charts.
6. To support the whole staff team by working in another room where necessary.
7. To plan and carry out stimulating activities relating to the children's interest in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, Setting the Standards for Learning, Development and Care for children from birth to five, ensuring they meet with the Early Learning Goals.
8. Ensure you work closely with your room leader regarding all children's development. Where necessary to provide information to support the writing of cohort tracking, 2 years checks, parents evening reports and paperwork that may be required for a third person (Speech and language).
9. Ensure children get the best start in life by working in close partnership with parents/carers to develop independence, confidence and self-esteem, building children's resilience and wellbeing.
10. Work closely with other staff and professionals.
11. Ensure you have knowledge of your key children within the room
12. To communicate with parents and other visitors in a calm, friendly and efficient manner.
13. Support children when transitioning in and out of the room.
14. To ensure your specific duties regarding Health and Safety and fire procedures are understood and actioned.
15. To undertake staff meetings outside normal working hours when necessary as well as events held for parents and open days.
16. To assist and ensure the smooth running of events.
17. Attend training as necessary including the weekends.
18. To carry out any ad-hoc projects or duties as requested by your room leader, deputy room leader or any other senior member of staff.
19. To take reasonable care of yourself and others and to comply with all policies and procedures outlined by Woodlands Nurseries.

Specific Duties:
1. Help Children with feeding, toileting or getting clothed.
2. To make mealtimes are enjoyable and relaxed.
3. Identify and report signs of a child feeling unwell, identify neglect and recognise if an injury seems non-accidental.
4. Follow the drop off and collection procedure in accordance with policy
5. Report accidents to the Nursery Manager or their deputy if absent, record accidents in the appropriate manner, ensure a parent is fully informed.
6. Report to the Nursery Manager/Deputy Manager
